Ph. Eur. Issue 13.1 is now available

The European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) Issue 13.1 is now available as part of the British Pharmacopoeia (BP) 2026 online edition. You can access this in-year update by using your existing credentials.

We are aligning future Ph. Eur. updates with the correction dates published on the Ph. Eur. website, meaning we will release in-year updates 7 months before they become legally effective and two months after they are published by Ph. Eur.

As a result, the BP 2026 edition will include four Ph. Eur. updates. From BP 2027, we will return to three updates per edition, starting with update 13.2.

Included in Issue 13.1:

Two new general chapters and seven new monographs, which come into force on 1 January 2027, including:

  • New general chapter on size-exclusion chromatography for recombinant therapeutic monoclonal antibodies (2.5.43)
  • New general chapter on uniformity of delivered dose of inhalation and nasal preparations (2.9.54) 
  • New monographs for cabazitaxel, caspofungin acetate, linagliptin, and nintedanib esilate 
  • New herbal drug monographs for cat's claw bark, chicory root, and geranium oil

Revisions to ten general chapters and a range of monographs, including:

  • Updates to disintegration of tablets and capsules (2.9.1) and particulate contamination: sub-visible particles (2.9.19) 
  • Updates to vaccines for human use, including BCG vaccine and tetanus vaccine monographs

Reagent updates, including:

  • Eight new reagents
  • Fourteen modified reagents
  • Three deleted reagents

Ph. Euro also contains corrected text which come into force on 31 May 2026, including: 

  • Three general chapters 
  • 15 monographs
