New Chair of the British Pharmacopoeia Commission

Following a successful appointments campaign, Dr Anna-Maria Brady has been appointed as the new Chair of the British Pharmacopoeia Commission with effect from 1 October 2022 for a period of four years. She has taken over the role occupied by Professor Kevin Taylor for the past nine years.

Dr Brady has been involved with the work of the British Pharmacopoeia for many years, initially joining the Panel of Experts on Veterinary Immunological Products in 2008 and later joining the Expert Advisory Group on Biological and Biotechnological Products in 2016, taking on the role of Vice-Chair and then Chair of that group. She joined the BP Commission in 2016 and was appointed Vice-Chair of the Commission in January 2022. Dr Brady is the first female Chair of the BP Commission in its more than 150 years of existence.

This appointment was made in accordance with the Cabinet Office Code of Governance for Public Appointments following a campaign undertaken by the Department of Health and Social Care Public Appointments Unit.
